Branching Out September 2007 Barnes & Noble, Richmond VA Solo Show
This collection was entitled Branching Out not only because every image related to trees, but because it marked a creative departure for me.
Typically, I focus on man-made details vs. details found in nature. At least, I thought I never did any nature-inspired photographs until I looked through my negatives and noticed that trees routinely crept into my work. I had just never taken the time to make the connection or the prints.
She cant see the forest for the trees is an idiomatic phrase used for someone who is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole. That I cant see the tree for the details of a deeply contorted branch, or a lush bloom, or a rhythmic pattern of fungus .well, then thats me.
